20 crore workers joined nationwide strike against policies of the BJP led government

Banking, insurance, roads, railways, postal, medical and other services were hit for two days since Tuesday after 20 crore workers joined the nationwide strike called by 10 central trade unions against what they call the anti-national and anti-worker policies of the BJP-led government. The strike was called by INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF and UTUC. However, RSS-affiliated Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh stayed away from the agitation. According to Kaur, these are preliminary reports based on which we can say the strike has been a success on both days across sectors like refineries, coal, non-coal and municipalities. "We will not let the government sit in peace. We will soon finalise our follow-up actions to ensure that government considers our demands or goes out of power," Kaur added.
